History of Brewing, Womens Work

Barley and wheat are the typical main ingredients in beer that contain gluten. I believe it is possible to make great tasting beer without these two gluten containing grains and have been working hard to develop our own new recipes. The goal at Against the Grain is to weave ancient beer brewing tradition with the current thirst for allergen free ale. It is our mission at Against The Grain Brewery to bring gluten freedom to the people one beer at a time.

I love Glutino

Not sure if I have mentioned it here before or not but here it is; I LOVE GLUTINO! I do, they are really great. Here is the website, but if you get a chance grab a box of their crackers and take the pepsi challenge yourself.
The chocolate wafers are delish! They taste a bit like Kit Kats and make me happy when I get to eat them. I cannot be trusted alone with a box. After opening the box I recommend any yummy chocolate wafers leftover be put into a plastic baggie.

Sake is good

Sake is gluten free and it tastes pretty good too! During the move last week I unearthed some Sake that had been put in the corner to age over 10 months ago. Putting it in some mason jars today to share with friends over the holidays...pictures coming soon.

Tapped it... and it was pretty good.

Tapped the first bottle of Orange Blossom Special last night, it was pretty tasty! Had a soft floral tone with some vanilla notes in the end. Had almost forgot that I had made a batch. If you would like to taste test a bottle for me, hit me up.

Looked at a space to rent today. It looked pretty suitable and was actually in my price range too! The hunt for a walk-in cooler continues...

Throwing beer down the drain...

The latest attempt at making a lighter ale is gross. I don't think anyone needs to drink it, its going down the drain. While working the mini beer fest last weekend I was talking to a brewer from Block 15 brewing Co. http://www.block15.com/ and he spoke of how they had just washed 15 barrels down the drain because it just didn't taste right. So these few gallons aren't so bad.

Will try again and keep ya posted on the results. Oh and feel free to donate to the cause if ya got an extra buck!
